A team of contractors are working to build the Nordhavn campus

The project – the largest school construction in Copenhagen’s history – got underway in January, with plans to have the new 25,000 square metre Nordhavn campus open by 2017.

The total costs are estimated at 500 million kroner. The property fund behind Copenhagen International School (CIS) last Friday offered up a presentation of the four large contractors who recently signed contracts to build the school’s new campus in Nordhavn.

Per Aarsleff, KT Elektric Aalborg, DTEK, H Skjøde Knudsen and Eiler Thomsen Alufacader are the contractors charged with building the new school. “In addition to the size of the building and the innovative architecture, it is a great experience to help establish an international school in a developing area like Nordhavn,” said Jacobsen. “We can influence the development of the entire area, and there is no doubt that the new campus will be at the heart of the new urban waterfront.”

“With a project of this size, you never know what challenges might come up down the road,” said John Bo Jacobsen, the chairman of the CIS Property Fund. “We are very pleased to have signed a deal with four new large contractors that allows us to target our efforts towards the opening of the new campus in January 2017, and we are already in full swing.”

Copenhagen International School has 850 pupils, aged three to 19 years from more than 70 different countries. The school has outgrown its current campuses, creating the need for the new location that will have space for 1,200 students and 250 employees.
