Another Danish star to play in Game of Thrones

The HBO fantasy hit continues with the popular Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and adds in the actress from Christiansborg

Danish actress Birgitte Hjort Sørensen, best known for her role as news reporter Katrine Fønsmark in TV drama series ‘Borgen’, has joined the cast of HBO series ‘Game of Thrones’.

Sørensen can be spotted in the recently released trailer of the highly-anticipated season five. Watch it here

On Twitter, Sørensen commented that she feels “excited and proud to play a wildling chieftainess concerned with the future of her people”.

From Borgen to battlefield
Following in the footsteps of Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, who will continue as Jamie Lannister, Sørensen is the third Dane to appear in the tremendously successful fantasy drama. Dar Salim played Qotho in season one.

The new season returns to HBO Nordic on April 13.

Sørensen’s fans will soon have a chance to see the prominent actress in another HBO series – an upcoming rock ‘n roll project from the same production team that was behind 'Boardwalk Empire' and 'The Sopranos'.
