On this day in 1945, the Danish-Swedish woman Jane Horney was executed by members of the Danish resistance on a fishing boat in the Øresund Strait after being suspected of treason.
Horney was allegedly lured to her death by the two Danish resistance members Sven Aage Geisler (aka ‘Big Bear’) and Asbjørn Lyhne (aka ‘Little Bear’), who convinced her to board the fishing boat.
After the war, some former Gestapo agents denied she was a German agent, contending that they thought she was actually working for the British or Soviets.
