Food, glorious food. What is there more handsome? According to the organisers of the Copenhagen Cooking & Food Festival, absolutely nothing and who could disagree!

The event is a maelstrom of culinary experiences, with over 100 unique events on offer over ten days. Highlights include the chance to try insects, the roasting of a whole ox at Gråbrødretorv, lots of kids activities, a splendid Italian market, and events called Midnight Munchies, Cocktail Craziness and Indian Inspiration. The list is endless and there truly is something on offer for everyone.

This year the theme is ‘Breaking the New’, which represents the innovative and courageous thinking that Denmark has pioneered since its explosion into the world of gastronomy 15 years ago. As part of this focus, the festival will be showcasing the newest trends in food this year.

An exciting addition to the program is the Copenhagen Food District, which will be at the heart (or stomach) of the action. Based in Øksnehallen and Kvægtorvet, the streets will bustle with chef battles, cocktails, kitchenware and vendors exploring adventurous new ways to cook and eat.

The Danish Radio station P4 will host a number of exciting voyages into the world of culinary excellence, with debates, discussions and delicious food tips. If you are more hands on, there are opportunities to cook on an open fire and to grow your own urban garden.

One thing is for certain: Food, glorious food, we’re anxious to try it …
