Unknown film a hit
A new independent Danish film is creating a lot of buzz in the US. Directed by Danny Thykær and produced by 42/46, ‘Backgammon’ has yet to be released in Denmark, but is on the shortlist for award nominations at several US film festivals, including the AOF International Film Festival in Los Angeles.

Danish lit in China
Participants at the Beijing International Book Fair will get the chance to sample works from Danish publishers and literary agencies this week. Statens Kunstfond supported the effort to send Danish works to the third largest book fair in the world. Other Nordic countries will also be represented at the booth.

Danes dominate
An impressive number of Danes are in the line-up for this year’s Cologne c/o festival. Singer-songwriter Agnes Obel is joined by five other Danish acts: Julias Moon, Kill J, Asbjørn, Blaue Blume and Den Sorte Skole. The acts offer a mixture of pop, world music, club music and other genres.
