On Saturday July 20, the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series took place in Copenhagen, right in front of the Opera.

The excitement of the event and the beautiful sunny weather attracted a great number of spectators, who either observed the event on one of the big screens from the grassy areas on Holmen, or watched it from boats and canoes floating on the water.

The competition is not for the light-hearted or those afraid of heights, since the sight of the 27m high platform alone will give you the chills.

The world’s 14 best high divers were in competition, jumping off the platform as athletically and gracefully as possible. Each diver gets four jumps to show their best twists, and is assigned a score by a jury of five people.

Last year’s Red Bull World Series winner, 31-year old Gary Hunt from the United Kingdom, dominated the Copenhagen tournament by performing four nearly perfect dives.

His success at the Copenhagen tournament increases his chances of defending his world title.

The next stage of the 2015 tournament will be held in mid-July in Portugal.
