Jores truly in FA Cup final
Danish defender Jores Okore came on as an early substitute to help Aston Villa overcome Liverpool 2-1 on Sunday to progress to the final of the FA Cup. Aston Villa, which last won the FA Cup in 1957, will take on Arsenal at Wembley Stadium in London on May 30.
FCK extend Solbakken
FC Copenhagen has extended the contract of coach Ståle Solbakken until the summer of 2018. The Norwegian tactician, who is the most successful coach in Superliga history with five league titles, returned to the helm of the Lions in 2013 after spending time coaching abroad for FC Köln and Wolves.
Danes on playoff ice
With the puck dropping on the NHL playoffs, four Danes are still in contention to win this year’s coveted Stanley Cup. Still lacing up their skates this season are centers Frans Nielsen (NY Islanders) and Lars Eller (Montreal Canadiens), right-winger Jannik Hansen (Vancouver Canucks) and net-minder Frederik Andersen (Anaheim Ducks).

After scoring for Wolfsburg in the Europa League and looking poised to turn around his club fortunes, Nicklas Bendtner once again landed himself in hot water by showing up late for training and being dropped for his team’s Bundesliga match against Weder Bremen last weekend.
Michael Valgren’s first start as captain of Tinkoff-Saxo in the Amstel Gold Race will be his last for the time being after he showed his inexperience on the final climb of the race. The young Dane was positioned too far behind when the riders hit the deciding climb on Sunday and ended up finishing 22nd.
