Twenty years after creating the hit Danish miniseries 'The Kingdom', Lars von Trier is returning to the small screen to write and direct 'The House That Jack Built' – an English-language series.

The controversial Danish filmmaker, known for movies such as 'Melancholia', 'Dancer in the Dark' and most recently 'Nymphomaniac', intends to make a high-end TV drama series.

He will start working on the script this autumn, and the show will air in 2016. No further details about the series have been revealed.

Hold your breath!
However, Zentropa's almost equally controversial producer, Peter Aalbaek Jensen, who will executive produce, has cautioned that the TV series will be without precedent.

"A TV series as you have never seen it before and never will again. You better hold your breath," he promised in the Zentropa press release.

Von Trier’s last television project, 'The Kingdom', earned cult acclaim and went on to be a huge international success.
