Volvo recalls 59,000 cars due to a software glitch that can turn off the car’s engine and electrical system while it is moving, reports DR.

According to the Swedish car manufacturer, some 122 of the faulty cars were sold in Denmark.

The software problem affects only the five-cylinder diesel models S60, V60, XC60, V70 and XC70 that now have to be fixed at local dealerships.

No traffic accidents related to the problem have been reported in Denmark but there has been one case when a Volvo car stopped by itself, Jan Larsen, the PR manager at Volvo Cars Denmark, told DR.

Nearly half of the cars (24,000) were sold in Sweden, where the software fault affects over 100 police cars.
