North Zealand police have charged a married couple with killing the woman's 82-year-old mother at a nursing home in Charlottenlund sometime last night.

The couple have been charged with manslaughter for their role in the victim overdosing on morphine.

“The staff called police when they discovered that they had been locked out of the woman’s room,” police spokesperson Henning Svendsen told TV2 News.

“They had a feeling they knew what was happening.”

Assisted suicide a possibility
The door was still locked when police arrived at the nursing home in Charlottenlund.

“They opened up when we knocked,” said Sevndsen.

Police did not rule out that the death was an assisted suicide.

“That assumes that the deceased was aware of what was happening, and we have no evidence of that as of yet, so we have charged the couple with manslaughter.”

The couple, both 54 years old, were scheduled to appear at a preliminary hearing this morning.
