Patrick Russell could be the next Dane to see some action on the ice in the NHL as he has been picked up on a two-year entry-level contract by the Edmonton Oilers.
Russell, 23, who grew up in Gentofte, has been playing college hockey in the US at St Cloud State in Minnesota since 2013.
“Thank you to everyone who has helped me along the way, especially St Cloud. It’s a dream come true to become part of the Edmonton Oilers,” Russell wrote on Twitter.

During his final college season, Birkerød-born Russell finished with 41 points in 41 games and won his first cap for the Danish national team recently.
The Oilers will start Russell off by sending him to their farm team the Bakersfield Condors in the AHL.
