The death of a Danish woman from Copenhagen who was found dead in a burning apartment in the Spanish capital on Friday is being treated as murder.

The police initially treated the 27-year-old’s death as a victim of an accidental fire, but the coroner later found clear evidence that Anne Strande Jensen had been strangled before the fire occurred.

No forced entry
Police are currently checking CCTV video from the area in order to ascertain who entered the apartment leading up to the fire.

The door to the apartment did not show any signs of forced entry, which could indicate that the woman let her killer into the apartment herself.

The young woman, an employee of the Scandinavian Tobacco Group, had only been in Madrid for eleven days as part of a temporary relocation that had been due to continue until November.
