UPDATE: Police are holding a 29-year-old man in connection with an attack on a female jogger, who was discovered lying on the ground at 3 pm yesterday in the Ved Sporsløjfen recreational area near Svanemøllen Station in Østerbro.

She was unconscious and had been missing for 10 hours.

ORIGINAL STORY: A 38-year-old female jogger was assaulted in a Copenhagen park on Tuesday.

She was found in a serious condition in the afternoon, but police said she is now out of danger.

The woman went out to run between 4:30 and 5:00 on Tuesday morning.

“When she did not return home, the family searched for her without success,” Torben Svarrer from Copenhagen Police told DR Nyheder. “They reported the situation to us and we began searching this morning.”

Investigation continues
“She was violently attacked,” said Svarrer who would not elaborate on the woman’s injuries or a possible motive for the assault.

Police would like to hear from any witnesses who may have been in the area and saw the woman running. She has short, light brown hair and was wearing black running pants and a flowered Vero Moda running jacket at the time of the assault.
