Iron Man race to affect traffic on Sunday

Road blocks and diverted traffic will be prevalent across Copenhagen this weekend

Northern Europe’s largest KMD Iron Man triathlon race will affect traffic in Copenhagen on Sunday.

The fifth annual edition this year will have over 3,000 competitors, and the many athletes swimming, running and cycling around our waterways and streets will lead to a number of roadblocks and traffic diversions in the capital.

Roadblocks everywhere
From 7-11am, roads in the city from Jollevej in Amager Strandpark to Amagerstrandvej, Prags Boulevard, Uplandsgade, Vermlandsgade, Stadsgraven, Amager Boulevard, Christiansborggade and Vester Voldgade will be affected by the race.

Between 7am and 11pm, Christians Brygge, Havnegade, Toldbodgade and will all be closed to automobile traffic.

And between 7am and 6pm, traffic on Esplanaden, Grønningen, Folke Bernadottes Allé, Langeliniebroen, Østbanegade, Århusgade, Kalkbrænderihavnsgade, Strandvænget, Strandpromenaden, Strandøre, and Strandvejen will all somehow be influenced by the race.

Some resources
Traffic will also be affected in other parts of Zealand, such as in Humlebæk, Allerød, Fredensborg and Lyngby. A full overview of the traffic situation can be found at the KMD Iron Man Copenhagen website (in Danish)

Be aware that some bus schedules will also be affected and that preliminary races today and tomorrow will also affect traffic to some extent.
