The US rock star Jack White will make a return to the Orange Stage at the Roskilde Festival as a replacement for Drake when the festival wraps up on Sunday.

White, who last played at the festival two years ago, was brought into the fold after the Canadian rapper pulled out on Thursday due to illness – the second time since 2010 that the rapper has cancelled at Roskilde.

Two-week tour break
But it took the festival organisers less than 24 hours to find an alternative, and the news that White would be replacing Drake was announced following the Rolling Stones concert on Thursday night.

“We are happy that we have managed to get such a big star to step in this late. Jack White is playing instead of Drake who had to cancel yesterday due to illness,” Roskilde Festival wrote in a press release.

White conveniently had a two-week break in his touring schedule. He is due to perform at the Open’er Festival in Gdynia, Poland today and then again at the Forecastle Festival in Louisville, USA on July 19.

Jack White, who will take the stage at 23:00 on Sunday July 6, is known for his music with the White Stripes and the Raconteurs.
