Disney has confirmed that Mads Mikkelsen has snagged a role in ‘Star Wars: Rogue One’, a spin-off from the main nine-film series that will continue with its seventh movie, ‘The Force Awakens’, this December.
The Disney and Lucasfilm joint production, which has already begun filming, will hit cinemas in December 2016.
A new wookie perhaps?
The film is set before the events of the original 1977 film ‘Star Wars: A New Hope’ and involves the rebels’ attempts to steal the blueprint plans for the Death Star. One can only presume they don’t succeed.
Mikkelsen’s specific role has not been announced, but given that he is not included in a promo shot of the rebels (that includes Felicity Jones, an Oscar nominee for ‘The Secret of Everything’), there’s a good chance his villainous qualities will be used by the dark side of the force.
The cast also includes Ben Mendehlson, Forest Whitaker and Diego Luna.
