You might as well begin prepping the suntan lotion and stowing away the umbrella, because May is expected to be sunnier and drier than usual with temperatures breaking into the 20s, according to national meteorologists, DMI.

The coming weekend looks like it will be dry with some sun as temperatures reach 15 degrees C, while the forecast for the following week is looking promising as well, if a little more ambiguous.

“The details are quite unsure, but it looks pretty sure that the high-pressure influenced weather provides us with a good chance of having some lovely spring days, particularly at the beginning and end of the week,” Herdis Preil Damberg, a DMI meteorologist, told Berlingske newspaper.

”Moreover, it looks certain that the temperature will gradually rise during the week and it will generally be quite dry.”

High-pressure systems
The day temperatures will be around 14 degrees at the beginning of the week, before potentially increasing to 18 degrees – and perhaps 20 degrees further inland.

The promising weather should stretch as far as the last two weeks of May, thanks to a tendency for high-pressure systems to remain over the British Isles and the North Sea bringing temperatures of between 15 and 22 degrees.
