Stars galore may be descending upon Denmark in the not too distant future as Copenhagen Municipality has revealed that that MTV Europe Music Awards has its eye on holding the show in the capital.
The music TV channel MTV has applied for the opportunity to host the event in Copenhagen in 2018, and politicians at City Hall are more than a little bit excited about the prospect.
“It’s a massive event that attracts loads of great artists and fans,” Carl Christian Ebbesen, the deputy mayor for culture and leisure, told Metroxpress newspaper.
“It would be an exciting experience for Copenhageners, and it could also generate some funds for the city’s coffers.”
Should the plan come to fruition, Ebbesen contended that it would be important to get local Copenhagen venues involved with the event.
The MTV application will be discussed by the Culture and Leisure Committee today.
Meanwhile, Denmark won’t need any assistance from MTV to attract certain stars.
British pop legends Pet Shop Boys are going east for a change when they hit Copenhagen for a double show at the Opera House on December 4 and 5 as part of their ‘Super World Tour’.
The duo shot to stardom in the 1980s and have been knocking out hits ever like ‘West End Girls’, ‘Always on My Mind’, ‘It’s a Sin’, ‘Domino Dancing’ and ‘Go West’.
Tickets went on sale on Friday May 13, and prices start at 525 kroner at Billetlugen.dk.
