250,000 Danes will receive questionnaire in the post that will help determine their wellbeing and general health
The Danish Health Regions has just begun the most extensive assessment of the health and happiness of Danes in history. A quarter of a million Danes will shortly be receiving the questionnaire in the post, reports Berlingske.dk.
The objective of the evaluation will be to assess the overall health condition of Danes one a regional and local level.
‘The various regions have commenced on quite possible the most ambitious assessment of its kind in the world. As far as I know, there are no other nations that have accumulated such vast data concerning the health and wellbeing of their population,’ said Ulla Astman, chairwoman of Danish Regions Health Committee.
Previous evaluations have indicated that the geographic differences in health issues in Denmark are considerable and are therefore need addressing at a local level.
‘For an example, it is important whether or not you look at citizens in Rudersdal, where 14 percent of men smoke, compared to Nørrebro, where 32 percent of men smoke.’ Astman said.
Astman hopes the questionnaire will be well received by the citizens involved and expects results sometime during 2011. Additionally, the Dnaish Health Regions want to repeat the evaluation every four years.
