Marcos Morau is well known for his contemporary choreography.

This month, his Barcelona-based company, La Veronal, will perform Shortcuts at the National Theatre.

But don’t expect Morau’s energetic, quirky choreography to feel particularly Spanish: La Veronal is known for works that take you on a journey, almost literally.

Shortcuts combines dance and theatre to represent Moscow, Reykjavik, Siena and Copenhagen in performance, reflecting on our contemporary society through dance, text and images. Though the show, you can experience the world without ever leaving your comfortable theatre seat.

The true story of a Nigerian woman’s escape from sex trafficking and her journey to trust a Danish social worker. Instead of actors, this features the women themselves to take an emotional look at a deeply complex relationship.

When René Descartes lost his child, he apparently built her as a mechanical doll. This Aaron Beck/The Mob collaboration is based on the philosopher’s ideas and features aerial dancer Esther Wrobel with a mechanical doll.
