With air temperatures constantly hovering around 30 degrees for several weeks, the temperature of the waters around Denmark has also been rising. The weather service reported that the temperature of the water at Hestehovedet Beach near Lolland measured 27 degrees, tying a record set in August, 2003.

At many Danish beaches, the water temperature rivals that of popular holiday destinations on the Mediterranean.

“This is the warmest bathing season in Denmark as a whole since July 2010,” said TV2 meteorologist Danny Høgsholt.

The month of July is expected to be the second warmest in Danish weather history.
