A German tourist on a guided tour to the Danish Parliament yesterday afternoon triggered a bomb alert that led to a massive police presence on the Christiansborg Palace square.

The German noticed another tourist was carrying a belt bag with some suspicious wires sticking out of it and decided to alert the police.

Held at gun point
When the police arrived, officers ordered two of the tourists – an Italian and a Brit – to lie down on the ground while they pointed guns at them.

Meanwhile, other riot policemen cordoned off the area.

However, it turned out it was a false alarm as the contents of the bag were harmless.

The British tourist was released immediately, but the Italian, who was carrying the belt bag, was taken to a police station where the police explained to him what happened.
