Once again, the bookstore reigned supreme at the St Alban’s Fête on Saturday at Churchillparken in the city centre as hundreds descended on its tables to get a 10 kroner bargain copy of ’50 Shades of Grey’ and ‘The Da Vinci Code’.

Among those enjoying the bargains were Junior Williams and Grace Tettah;

Alexander, caught here munching on some homemade British-style cake;

and Judy Fitzgerald and Dorothy Ocanda, who worked tirelessly to keep people happy in the cream tea tent

Visitors to the fête were treated to a wide range of entertainment that included jazz and a bagpiper. And as well as the bargains on the books, there was a multitude of international delicacies to sample, including British cream teas and cake, greasy burgers and Indian snack food.

Among those present were Janet Kamara and friends at the bric-a-brac stall;

Rosemary Bohr, who was caught here purchasing some homemade marmalade from the home produce stall;

Claire Clausen (centre left) and friends on the white elephant stall selling tomorrow’s antiques;

and Divia Kurian cooking up a storm at the Indian food stall (a welcome addition this year)
