The managing director of Danish film producer Zentropa, Peter Aalbæk Jensen, is dropping his libel case against the film magazine Ekko.

Late last month, Jensen sued Ekko over the magazine’s publication of an article that claimed 750 actors were each charged 350 kroner to audition for a Zentropa project in 2009.

Jensen claimed that the film, ‘Klar til optagelse’, was never an official Zentropa project and demanded 250,000 kroner in damages plus interest. He had also demanded that Ekko stop writing about Zentropa and appealed to the Danish film institute, Det Danske Filminstitut, to withdraw the magazine’s 400,000 kroner annual financial support.

Ritzau news bureau reported on Wednesday that the two sides have reached an agreement over the complaint.

Although neither side commented on the settlement, it was reported that the agreement contained language that indicated that Ekko apologised “if anyone was given the impression that Zentropa had received money from the open casting”.

In return, Jensen apologised for his “at times strident accusations”, which he made against the film magazine.
