Jazz-rock guitarist
Thurston Moore with the founding of the group Sonic Youth and his many years in the field of rock, avant-garde and improvisation put a decisive mark on music history.

His guitar playing has been a huge inspiration for experimental guitarists all over the world, and besides, he has always managed to stay open to new trends and looking for new musical conversations.

The other part of the duo
The Swedish saxophonist Mats Gustafsson is one of Scandinavia’s biggest musical personalities. With bands like Fire! and The Thing, he has created some of the most relevant free-jazz in recent memory, and his solo performances also show an extreme physical control and musical openness.

He has performed with musicians such as Derek Bailey, Peter Brötzmann and The Ex, and in 2011 he was awarded the Nordic Council Music Prize. When Gustafsson recently visited Jazz House with his great orchestra Fire!

He earned great praise from critics, including six stars in Gaffa.

Mats Gustafsson and Thurston Moore have crossed swords on several occasions.

As a duo, they among others, have released We Är Alla God’s slaves and Play Some Fucking Stooges.

And now they collide together in Jazzhouse during Copenhagen Jazz Festival. A tearing lightning bolt at the crossroads of experimental rock and free-jazz.
