In a week in which Frank is the only option for English-speakers at mainstream cinemas, Husets Biograf has come through in the clutch with what may end up being this century’s high point of culture: the Big Lebowski Drink Along.
The event sold out a long time ago, but due to cancellations and high demand, a few more tickets havebeen made available (email email@example.com for reservations).
Act quickly though, because there is officially one less available.
If you’re lucky enough to get your hands on a ticket, not only will you get to watch the Coen Brothers’ timeless classic The Big Lebowski, but every time someone in the movie (most likely ‘The Dude’, played by Jeff Bridges) drinks a White Russian cocktail – rum, Kahlua and milk, for those of you who don’t know – so will you.
To put that on a scale from one to milky stomach ache, that’s ten White Russians. And to top it all off, they’re served up by roller skating amazons in Viking costumes.
This will be taking place on Sunday, with doors opening at 6pm and the screening starting two hours later.
Otherwise, you can catch the latter half of the Latin American Film Festival at Cinemateket all week long, but Sidewalls (7.5 on IMDB) – a stylised Argentinian romcom about the digital age and its effects on social life – comes highly recommended and will be showing on Wednesday June 18 at 7:30pm.
If Latin America is too spicy for you, then go to the Verdenskulturcentret on Sunday at 3:45pm for some Danish culture instead.
This monthly event includes a film screening – political drama Manslaughter (original title Drabet) this time – followed by a cultural debate.
Verdenskulturcentret has a tendency to attract people of various nationalities, so this will be a nice opportunity to get both a glimpse of Danish life and politics, as well as meet people from all corners of the globe.
