Dog walk turns macabre

Few answers after discovery of skeletal remains in northern Zealand

A man walking his dog yesterday in northern Zealand received a surprise when he stumbled across a human skeleton, Frederiksborg Amts Avis reported.

The remains were sent for investigation and police technicians and sniffing dogs have spent today on the scene of the discovery but police have not yet said if they believe there is a crime behind the grisly find.

Police say that based on the teeth, the skeletal remains appear to be from someone of eastern European or Middle Eastern descent, leading to some speculation that there may be a connection to the nearby Sankt Helene centre, which has at times been used as a relief centre by Sandholm Asylum Centre.

Police have reached out to the Danish Red Cross, which operates Sandholm, for assistance.

It was uncertain just how long the remains had been laying in the nature area or why no-one had discovered them until now despite it being a popular location for outdoor activities.
