Zealand hospitals falling behind other regions

Hospitals in the Mid-Jutland region performed best with eight top-place finishes in the various criteria

Compared to Jutland and Funen, hospitals in Zealand are lagging behind when it comes to waiting times, patient satisfaction and quality of treatment, according to a new report.

The report – posted by the Finance Ministry in co-operation with the Health Ministry, local government association KL and regional organisation Danske Regioner – unveiled that there is great disparity in the quality of care that patients receive in Denmark.

“The huge differences are alarming,” Morten Freil, the head of patient organisation Danske Patienter, told Berlingske newspaper.

“As a Danish citizen, one should be able to expect uniform high quality everywhere, so one can be examined quickly or can be sure that the required competencies are present at hospitals.”

Top in cancer treatment
Hospitals in the Mid-Jutland region performed best according to the report, with eight top-place finishes in various criteria compared to the capital region, which scraped the bottom of the barrel with only two top-place finishes.

The two top-place finishes achieved by the capital region were within the area of cancer treatment, where the survival rates are high compared to the rest of the nation.
