The next Trap Danmark, a massive statistical and topographic compendium about Denmark, will be published as a mobile app in six years.

On September 1, work on the app begins as the vast amount of knowledge and information needed will begin to be collected from all manner of experts and scientists.

“That means wherever you are standing in Denmark, you can instantly find out whatever you want to know about the monument, the church or natural area you are seeing by checking the Trap Denmark app on your smartphone,” Niels Elers Koch, the chief editor of Trap Denmark, told DR Nyheder.

Looking into English version
The colossal Trap Danmark works have been published five times earlier, but this will be the first time that the wealth of information can be accessed using cell phone location services.

Koch told the Copenhagen Post that while the upcoming Trap Danmark edition will not be available in English, they are seriously looking into English translation possibilities.

"We've had discussions with Visit Denmark because having it in English would be very relevant and would offer huge potential," Koch said.

"We wouldn't be able to offer everything in English because of the massive amount of information present, but we are looking into the possibility of parts of it being translated."

The coming edition will by published digitally and in book form and will be freely available for everyone.
