Hottest day of the year hits 31.3 degrees

There are still some sunny days left before it gets humid

The weather in Denmark is turning distinctly tropical, as Wednesday became the hottest day in Denmark so far this year after a week-long heatwave raised the temperature in Copenhagen to 29 degrees.

Vestervig in northern Jutland topped the chart with 31.3 degrees, turning the heath of Thy National Park into a merciless prairie. That probably made people want to escape into the cool water of the North Sea and take advantage of Denmark's first new sea pool near Vorupør.

Hot hot hot
That makes July 23 the hottest day of the year and the third tropical day in a row. According to DMI, there may still be some great sunny days left in the week, before sultry weather and thunderstorms roll in on Saturday and potentially to scare sunbathers away from the beaches.

But summer ain't over until the fat lady swims, so there's a chance we haven't seen the hottest day yet.
