Police in southern Funen say they are still looking for a possible suspect in the sexual assualt of an 11-year-old girl on Friday.

The girl described her attacker as a man, between the ages of 45 and 50, who she first thought was approaching her to ask for directions.

As the man attempted grab her, the girl fled but only managed to make it as far as a nearby field before her attacker grabbed her and threw her in the car.

The assailant then drove a short distance and sexually assaulted her on the backseat of the vehicle. He dropped her at an intersection about an hour later and the girl used her mobile phone to call her mother. The girl was only a couple hundred metres from home when she was grabbed. The backpack she dropped while running away was found lying in a nearby ditch.

Police declined to give details about the attack or how the man managed to hold the girl in the car while he drove.

“There was violence involved, but I cannot comment on what type,” said Justesen.
