Christian Eriksen was in the starting line-up as he made his Ajax debut on Sunday afternoon

Danish football talents seem to be on the rise as yet another youngster is creating a stir internationally. Simon Kjær has been widely praised in the football world as a defensive star and now young Christian Eriksen has been making a splash as well.

The 17-year-old creative midfielder has been in impressive form in Dutch club Ajax and he was handed his debut on Sunday as Ajax drew 1-1 away to NAC Breda. Eriksen, who was brought to Ajax from OB Odense a year ago, played for the first 83 minutes of the match.

‘I hadn’t expected my debut to be in the starting eleven. It was a shame we didn’t get the three points and even though I had to get used to the tempo, I thought it went rather well,’ Eriksen told TV2.

‘Of course, it was a massive dream that came true, but my goal now is to stay in the first team, so I’m keeping my feet firmly on the ground,’ added Eriksen.
