Four arrested in death of 81-year-old

14-year-old Bulgarian girl a suspect in deadly robbery

Four Bulgarian nationals have been arrested on a charge of murdering 81-year-old Kirsten Inge Damsgaard. Damsgaard was bound and gagged on her bed while her Herlev flat was ransacked on December 30. Her daughter found her lifeless body on New YearÂ’s Day.

Two men, aged 20 and 22, a 19 year-old woman and a 14-year-old girl were arrested yesterday.

One of the men and the woman were arrested at a Frederiksberg address reported to be the home of one of the suspects. The girl and the other man were picked up a few blocks away.

Police investigator Charlotte Skovby said that one of the men has lived in Denmark for a year and a half while the other man has been in the country slightly longer. The relationship between the suspects is not known at this time.

DamsgaardÂ’s debit card was stolen during the robbery and pictures of the suspects using the card at ATMs around Copenhagen were released to the media. According to Charlotte Skovby, those photos helped police break the case.

“We received about 100 tips from the public and that co-operation with the investigation led to the arrests,” said Skovby.

The two men are charged with murder and robbery. The status of the women has yet to be determined, and Skovby said that the investigation is continuing.
