Culture Night’s 20th Anniversary-The annual cultural celebration Kulturnatten – when Copenhagen opens the doors of its museums, galleries, libraries, churches, theatres, music clubs, bars and other venues for one low, all-inclusive price –is celebrating its 20th anniversary on Friday.
From museums and galleries you’ve been meaning to check out, to events you may never have the chance to see again – like a behind-the-scenes tour of what it takes to run the S-tog throughout Copenhagen – Culture Night is your chance to see the best on offer –  all for 90kr.

Celebration & feasting through the ages-Participate in a scavenger hunt to win prized items from the gift shop, or take a break from the art and enjoy the music of Veronica Hodges and the vocal ensemble Glas in the museum’s Winter Garden.

Light and sound-The white marble statues of the museum are getting a technicolor makeover from students of The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Art Schools of Architecture, Design and Conservation.

Art seen through the eyes of science-Ever wonder what it takes to produce an artistic masterpiece? By using x-ray, infrared and UV light, curators at the National Gallery will be able to show you the layered stories behind the final image of a work of art.

CULTURE NIGHT CASTLES

 

Rosenborg Castle in the dark-See Rosenborg Castle like never before – with a torch. The tickets are free with a Kulturpass but must be picked up from the castle’s ticket office between 10:00 and 16:00.

Junkbuster’s flea market-Christiansborg Castle used to be home to unimaginable luxuries when the royal family lived there, but on Culture Night it will be surrounded by trash. Junkbusters have collected garbage from all over and will sell the good stuff on Friday night. You just might find that one man’s trash really is your treasure. All the proceeds are going to the Danish Cancer Society.

A TASTE OF AMERICA

 

American Halloween and haunted house-American expats feeling homesick this October should make their way to Skindergade for an American-made haunted house and Halloween extravaganza. If you don’t want this night to be a scare, you can still head over for pumpkin carving in the courtyard or s’mores over an open fire.

US Civil War live re-enactment show-At The Royal Danish Arsenal Museum, the North takes on the South again in this re-enactment using authentic weapons, cannons and uniforms. The show is repeated several times throughout the evening.

WHERE CAN I GET A BEER?

 

Beer experiences at the brewery-If you like beer, you’ll be disappointed to miss this. Experience beer and its ingredients like never before at the Jacobsen Brewhouse and Bar, the Aroma room and through a blind-tasting of different Carlsberg products.
