The Copenhagen International Short Film Festival is coming back. Over the next four days, witness a plethora of new works created by both aspiring newcomers and experienced masters. In addition to seeing their works, visitors will be given an opportunity to meet film creators, ask questions and listen to their presentations and explanations of their works. Among the film directors who are going to present their short films at the festival are: Mariola Brillowska, Evy Schubert, Martha Colburn, Anita Rocha da Silveira, Jakob Maqe, Marco Egeberg, Andreas S Sørensen and many more. Indie music enthusiasts owe a lot to venues like the Geyser Club, which often provides aspiring new singers and bands with a chance to prove themselves on a professional stage. Geyser Club’s famous singer-songwriter nights, which will take place on the last Thursday of the month until the summer, is kicking off with an interesting show featuring gypsy-jazz newcomers Jasmin Franko & the Band, a mysterious guitar duo, My Secret Place, a solo live set from Dangers Of The Sea’s frontman Andreas Bay Estrup, and last but not least, the Swedish darlings with incredible melodies, House of Trees. For those of you who are into photography, free up next Wednesday evening! The photo forum meet-up at the Photographic Center will be focusing on the latest trends in photography art. You will hear all about the post-realism tendencies, will learn to look beyond the reality borders of photography, and finally, can meet well-known artists Sophia Kalkau and Rikke Benborg, whose works are currently exhibited at the Photographic Center’s exhibition Beyond Realism. Attention classical music admirers: an internationally acclaimed Lithuanian-born violinist Julian Rachlin is going to perform with a Norwegian string orchestra, Oslo Camerata, at Den Sorte Diamant next Tuesday. Rachlin is often listed among the world’s top violin players, and his name on the bill guarantees that you will not leave the Dronningesalen unmoved. On the programme: Mozart (Symphony No.29 in A major, Violin Concerto No.5), Astor Piazzola (The Four Seasons) and Alberto Iglesias. RS

The large indoor flea market will also hold an auction on the same day at 14:00 that is going to offer various parts of written-off theater paraphernalia (used at the well-known Blumenbach Instituttet). In a world obsessed with growth, materialism, and resource allocation, we often forget the power that art, in this case, poetry, can have over our actions, opinions, and decisions. This Friday night reading at Science Friction will explore what makes poetry a form of capital – how it influences the world around us and “brings to light the fruitful functioning of language technologies”. Poetry from Canadian-born Corey Murphy will be read alongside other works related to the questions: what do language and poetry afford us in the workplace? And how can we capitalise on poetry to inspire innovation? JG
