Two men who allegedly tried to sail a ship loaded with half a tonne of cocaine from Brazil to Denmark were brought to trial for questioning at the City Court this morning.
During the investigation, police employed two agents to infiltrate the smugglers and take part in some of the crimes undertaken by the two men, including in 2012 and 2013 when they planned to smuggle cocaine in a specially-designed ship from Brazil.
The smuggling plans were thrown overboard after a Brazilian contact suddenly vanished, according to the secret agents. Both men, aged 35 and 37, have pleaded not guilty.

Going undercover
Police may legally use undercover agents to take part in crimes and break the law in the company of suspects as long as the agents don't cause the crime to escalate.
The judge will continue the trial behind closed doors in order to protect the agents’ identities.
