Mr Carlsberg dies

On this day in 1914, Carl Jacobsen, the Danish brewer and philanthropist, died. His father, the brewery’s founder JC Jacobsen, named the brewery after him. In 1897, Jacobsen helped found one of the most important Danish art museums, Ny Carlsberg
Glyptotek.
