An electric transport cable linking Jutland to the Norwegian water power system is set to break the world record for electric transport capacity. The cable is the fourth of its kind to be built across Skagerrak and will offer the possibility carry a world-breaking load of 500 kV, setting the total energetic exchange to 1.700 MW for all cables.
Experts at ing.dk say that the cable will provide Denmark with the opportunity to exchange more than just energy with foreign partners, as it introduces state of the art conversion technology.

Introducing ground breaking technology
In order to support and stabilise this capacity, the engineers introduced the new HVDC – light converters. Such converters will make energy transport more efficient, by allowing engineers better control over transmissions at both end of the connections.
