Exhibitions
Five permanent exhibitions take you on a historical journey through the lives of Danish workers. In the backyard, you’ll find clotheslines full of laundry, and inside the old building, small flats, steep staircases, and even outdoor latrines. You can also take a stroll down a typical Danish 1950s shopping street and visit a working-class family with three children, circa 1958.

The temporary exhibition, Women’s Lives (until 1 August 2025), offers a sensory, moving, and powerful exploration of women’s history.

Play in the Children’s Workers Museum
Let your children experience life as working-class kids in the 1930s within the small shops of the Children’s Workers Museum, where they can play with everything!

Explore the small worker’s flat and descend the narrow kitchen stairs to reach an authentic backyard, complete with barrels, rats, and space for ‘forbidden’ play.

Coffee bar and Danish smørrebrød
Take a break in the authentic 1950s coffee bar, where you can enjoy a cup of the famous coffee substitute, Rich’s, along with a slice of biscuit cake.

For a more substantial meal, try an original Danish lunch in the listed Café & Øl-halle, where the popular ‘table of smørrebrød’ offers you a variety of traditional Danish open sandwiches.
