Only two Danes are taking part in this year’s Bilderberg meeting, held in Stockholm: business leader Robert Uggla and former EU Commissioner Connie Hedegaard. It’s Økonomisk Ugebrev to report it.
The meeting brings together around 120 people from politics, business, and research for informal talks on global issues.
The Bilderberg Group was formed in 1954 and is known for keeping the meetings closed to the public and the press. Participants follow the Chatham House Rule, meaning they can use the information they hear, but not say who said what. The aim, according to the organisers, is to allow people to speak freely and take part in a personal capacity.
This year’s agenda includes transatlantic relations, the war in Ukraine, artificial intelligence, migration, and energy. The Swedish prime minister, Ulf Kristersson, is expected to speak about the EU and Sweden’s support for Ukraine.
From the United States, participants include Microsoft’s Satya Nadella, Pfizer’s Albert Bourla, and investor Peter Thiel. Media figures like Anne Applebaum and Fareed Zakaria are also attending.
