In July, the young musicians of Slagelse Garden will embark on an unforgettable trip to China, where they will perform Danish music and experience Chinese culture up close. The trip offers a packed program of concerts, school visits, cultural exchanges, and sightseeing in both Wenzhou and Hangzhou.
Upon arrival in Wenzhou on July 5, the garden will kick off with a public performance in the city’s bustling pedestrian street, Wuma Street. In the following days, they will play at local schools and universities, participate in workshops, visit companies, and perform in cultural centers and theaters.
A highlight will be the concert on July 11 at the Wenzhou East-South Theatre, where the band will mark the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Denmark – an important cultural and historical moment.
In addition to the musical performances, the guards will also experience Chinese nature and history. They will go on full-day trips to Wencheng County and Hangzhou, where they will visit the tech giant Alibaba and sail on the beautiful West Lake, which is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
