Following Benny Engelbrecht’s resignation as transport minister last night in wake of the CO2 emission scandal, the government was pushed into action to fill the void.

And PM Mette Frederiksen has wasted no time in doing just that, pulling the trigger on several moves as she seeks to solidify her ministerial team.

The defence minister, Trine Bramsen, will take over the reins and replace Engelbrecht at the Transport Ministry, while she has also been named equality minister – the responsibilities of that arena will shift from the Employment Ministry to the Transport Ministry.

Morten Bødskov, meanwhile, will shift from the Tax Ministry to take over from Bramsen as defence minister.

Finally,  MP Jeppe Bruus will make his ministerial debut, taking over from Bødskov as the new tax minister.

The new ministers, as tradition dictates, were presented to Queen Margrethe at 11:00.

It’s not the first time that Frederiksen has been forced to reshuffle her ministerial team.

In late 2020, Mogens Jensen stepped down in wake of the mink scandal, while last year Joy Mogensen left politics after running out of steam as culture minister.
