Den Klodsede Bjørn Vodka wins gold medal at Destille Festival Berlin

The Danish craft vodka Den Klodsede Bjørn Vodka has been awarded the gold medal at the prestigious craft spirits festival Destille Festival Berlin.

Den Klodsede Bjørn Vodka – handmade in Copenhagen by one of the world's smallest distilleries – won the gold award in the vodka category along with Finnish company Helsinki Distilling Company Straight Rye and Austria's 1310 Vodka Classic Bio.

“The Bear won GOLD!” Frederik Plum, the maker of Den Klodsede Bjørn Vodka, wrote on Facebook.

“The jury panel (which blind tasted in the category vodka, white dog and korn) consisted of some of Germany's best bartenders, spirits producers and slow food experts. We are very proud and appreciative. Prost!”

Unfiltered and made from a mix of home-grown barley and wheat malt and distilled three times in small Portuguese copper kettles – which are usually used for whiskey production in order to maintain taste nuances derived from the raw goods used – only 75 litres of the vodka is made from each batch.
