Copenhagen Jazz Festival: Aaron Parks

American pianist and composer Aaron Parks has a long resume as a musician, even though he is only 30 years old.

He has been a regular part of Terrence Blanchard’s group since he was 18 years old, and has also played with musicians such as Christian Scott, Gretchen Parlato, Kurt Rosenwinkel and Joshua Redman.

He has also published seven albums in his own name as a solo pianist, with legendary record label ECM, and has appeared on several Danish records – including Donald “AC” Christensen’s Dear Someone and Christian Vuusts’ Urban Hymns.

Aaron Parks has visited Denmark before and has been involved with Summer Session at Vallekilde School, this is only part of the reason why he now chooses to settle in Copenhagen over the summer of 2014, but rather to be an active part of the Danish jazz scene, where he will play concerts, record, giving master classes as well as compose.
