Pakistani companies eye foothold in Denmark

Co-operation between the two nations could be lucrative

With the assistance of the Danish development assistance programme Danida, seven Pakistani companies are in Denmark this week hunting for new business partners and opportunities.

The trade and development minister, Mogens Jensen, believes that a co-operation between the two nations can lead to sustainability development in Pakistan, as well as growth and jobs in Denmark.

“Among other things, Pakistan demands knowledge, technology and innovative solutions with energy, water, health, food products and agriculture – areas that Danish companies have strong competencies in,” Jensen said in a press release.

Increased co-operation
In March, a number of Danish companies – including Novo Nordisk and an agricultural delegation – visited Pakistan, and Danish exports to the country are expected to increase by over 20 percent this year.

In 2013, the Danish embassy in Islamabad opened a trade department and has been dealing with trade and development since then.

“Pakistan is a good example that development can pave the way for co-operation between Danish and Pakistani companies and contribute to creating stability and growth,” Jensen said.

The seven companies visiting Denmark – hailing from Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad – are focusing on energy and energy efficiency and will visit 20 companies this week, including Grundfos, Siemens and Alectia.
