Stormy opening for ‘new’ Nørreport

Hundreds braved storm last Saturday to attend official launch

After three years of renovation work, the revamped Nørreport Station officially reopened on Saturday with celebrations that included food, music and children’s entertainment.

Nørreport, which services about 250,000 people every day, is Denmark’s busiest train station, and the city mayor, Frank Jensen,

and the transport minister, Magnus Heunicke, braved the storm to give addresses to mark the occasion.

Extensive renovation work
The massive renovation project has included work on the station’s concrete structure, the regional train platform and a new Metro entrance from the walking street.

Additionally, the ventilation has been improved and a considerable connective square with better cycling conditions has been built above ground. (CW)
