The queen celebrated her 76th birthday on April 16 with some traditional waving to her adoring subjects from a balcony at Amalienborg Palace, where other members of her now quite extensive family joined or followed her.

Among them was a beefier looking Prince Christian (right), who is now 10.

And a lankier looking Prince Nikolai (left), the son of Prince Joachim, who is now 16.
