Today’s Date: ‘Ro-Ove’ rows to Copenhagen

Thirty years ago on this day, the Faroese sailor Ove Joensen arrived on the shores of Copenhagen after rowing 900 nautical miles (over 1,660 km) from his home country.

The trip took exactly 42 days and the rower became known as ‘Ro-Ove’ (ro meaning ‘row’ in Danish).
