Barbecued food, book bargains and British favourites at the Saint Alban’s Church Summer Fête

Take a trip this Saturday to a little corner of Copenhagen that is forever England

Not much can be said for the Danish summer in August, but that does not seem to hinder the Saint Alban’s Church Summer Fête! The annual event is the perfect place to relax, spend the day with family and friends, and to find some great bargains.

This weekend, peruse the various stalls selling British goods, handicrafts and homemade delicacies, eat and drink your fill at the barbecue and beverage tents, and enjoy a full day of music and dance.

Not to be missed
This year’s fête is the 25th anniversary of the event being held at Churchillparken, and it promises to be bigger than ever.

“We have really pulled out all the stops this year,” Reverend Darren McCallig has reassured us.

“Performers on the day will include Finney’s Jazzmen, a very popular local group who play a wonderful mix of jazz evergreens, blues and gospel. There’s also the Jane Austen Dancers, organ soloists, bagpipers, drummers, bell ringers and singers. You won’t want to miss it!”

From books to bouncy castles
The cherry on the cake is the English-language book stall, with plenty of valuable finds to be discovered. Towards the end of the day, as prices lower, it’s not unheard of to get five books for just 10 kroner. Children will also find sufficient entertainment (and a bouncy castle) to occupy themselves.

The fête will be held on Saturday August 27 from 10 am to 5 pm. Head over to Churchillparken, Langelinie (beside Gefion’s Fountain) and let the fête bring you a slice of summer before the days get colder.
