If you’ve ever fantasised about thundering up the steps of your own castle to gaze across your domain while your minions address you as ‘my liege’, then behold!
The iconic and protected Visborggaard Castle in north Jutland has been put up for sale for the first time since 1938.
“We started marketing it on Tuesday and we’ve already received 10 inquiries, of which three were serious,” Steen Royberg from Nybolig Erhverv Aalborg told TV News.
“And by serious, I mean they wanted to download and gain access to the considerable annex material.”

Two gardeners required
And because the castle, which was first mentioned in written records back in 1351, is for sale by public tender, buyers must make a written offer in a sealed envelope. So really, anyone could have a go!
The region will ultimately choose one of the offers or discard them altogether.
It will cost a tidy sum of coin to keep the castle going, however. Just maintaining the garden requires two full-time gardeners.
The castle, which burned down in 1534 and was rebuilt again in 1576, is expected to be sold by 15 January 2017, while the prospective buyer will be free to take over the property on 1 January 2018.
“I have been in this industry for 30 years and it’s only the second time I’ve seen something that even comes close to this,” said Royberg.
